Supernormal is a welcomed Melbourne import from chef-restauranteur Andrew McConnell and partner Jo McGann, who collaboratively operate Trader House, a collective of iconic restaurants and retail ventures throughout Australia. Trader House’s existing venues include Apollo Inn, Builders Arms Hotel, Cumulus Inc., Cutler & Co, Gimlet, Marion, Meatsmith, Morning Market and Supernormal in Melbourne. The opening of Supernormal in Brisbane will mark the first interstate venture for the Trader House Group. The second rendition of the cult-classic ‘Supernormal,’ is situated riverside in Brisbane City with views overlooking the Story Bridge. The venue is set to be run by executive chef Jason Barratt and will be influenced by various Eastern-style cuisines, with a focus on fresh seafood and local tropical flavours. The restaurant has been designed by ACME and EATSCAPE, and is housed in an exclusive space located in the 443 Queen Street development from WOHA Architects. Our team completed the fit-out of the ground floor kitchen and bar areas, as well as the terrace bar space; supplying and installing both the stainless steel components and the commercial food-service equipment. The venue’s design encompasses a neutral materiality of soft hues and natural textures, which strategically juxtaposes the bold presence of stainless steel in the open-plan kitchen – Creating an organic and unique interior.
